There seems to be “camps” in the crafting/creating world and I’m one of those who has all toes in both worlds. The sewing world AND The knitting world and I love to do both equally. (I must state here and now that I DO NOT crochet! I am NOT a member of that camp and I don’t think I ever will be.)

I’m currently down to two sewing projects left to start and finish on my Sewing Projects: Materials Already Purchased list. My knitting basket contains five projects at various stages of completion and I have the materials for 2 more (hidden in the closet). (SHHHH! Don’t tell my husband!)

Shannon from luvinthemommyhood has put together some of the best roundups that I have seen out there in Blog-land. Specifically, I enjoy her comfy sews vs. cozy knits roundups. It seems I’m not the only one, because she actually just launched a new blog dedicated to pitting the knitting world against the sewing world. It’s appropriately called Versus.

After going through the project roundups, I find myself on the fence. Do I start knitting this dress or this sleeveless number? But then I do love these navy stripes, or do I sew up this lace shirt?!

So which side of the stitchy camp are you on? What projects are screaming at you to start? Come join me on the fence if you can’t decide. (Crocheters welcome, too.)

  1. Well I’ve never been a knitter, and I was briefly a really terrible crocheter … What I think sewing does have over knitting however, is SPEED. you can finish something in one day- show me anything other than a rectangle that you can knit in one day… I dare you!

I secretly want to be a knitter… but i still have the same scarf on my needles in a lovely knitting basket that i started for my step-daughter when she was six (she is now 12). I keep declaring each new year ‘the year i will really learn to knit’ but it never happens… i do love how portable knitting can be. I like the idea of sitting and knitting my way through a movie, or in a waiting room, long car journeys etc…

I love knitting socks. But after the Christmas I Knit Socks & Hats for Everyone, I have not recovered from the lobster claws I had as hands by the end of it. I would like to embark on larger projects but I know it will take me yearsssss. So washcloths it is (for now)… and I’ve been mid-washcloth for four months now!

I remember watching Emeline crochet on the train to Toronto years ago — and watched how she slowly added more and more stitches. The whole technique was very confusing to me!

I’m LOVING those tights. So cuite!
