After my …ahem… incident a couple of weeks ago I decided to take a break from quilting and make something quick and easy.

I set out to make a new summer hat for young mister. I wanted to recreate the magic of a bucket hat that he had sadly outgrown. What was magic about it? Well it lasted for two summers and it stayed on his head. If you’ve ever tried to get a one year old to keep a hat on you’d understand.

My first attempt had… flaws. The measurements were right but it didn’t *fit*. I won’t say who made the pattern but it rhymes with “Smutterick”.

The second pattern I tried was from Oliver + S little things book. Clear instructions and it came together easily.

The best part? Alex loves it. Magic!
