My name is Miliana, (or Mili for short ;) and I am the latest addition to the little slice of heaven on earth that is Emeline & Annabelle! I’m just about two months in and totally loving it. How could anyone not!?
As for my background, I’m a long-time maker/sewer and have been creating as much as I can since a very tender age.
Until University, sewing was mainly a hobby that I liked to practice. However while I was studying Design at Concordia, it took on a more professional path, as I ended up being the go-to person for various sewing-related projects, one of which is still part of the Design and Computation Arts student lounge today.
Another hobby that has given me much to be thankful for, is bookmaking. I was first introduced to the craft during a summer drawing course in 2006 when our professor brought in Sarah Greig, also a professor, to host a 4 hour bookmaking workshop. I’ve been making books ever since!
In 2009, I took another summer drawing course, however this time in Italy! I had long heard about this exclusive program organized by Michèle Delisle- visual artist and professor. Luckily, a friend and I were able to secure our spots and we were Italy bound with our home stitched sketchbooks.
The books were such a hit on that program that I have since sold many to participating students and world travellers. I’ve been thrilled to see my them travel to Italy, Portugal and even Africa. It’s as though I live vicariously through my sketchbooks!
Hope to see you in the shop soon!
